West African Examinations Council has announced the appointment of Dr. Amos Dangut as the new Head of the Nigeria National Office.
The announcement was made through a statement released by
WAEC on Monday, revealing that Dangut previously served as the Deputy Registrar
in the HNO’s office.
Dangut is set to assume the leadership role, succeeding
Patrick Areghan, whose tenure concludes later this month.
According to a statement issued by Moyosola Adesina, who is
currently acting as the head of Public Affairs at WAEC, Dangut commenced his
service at the examination council in 1998 in the capacity of an Assistant
Registrar (AR) II. Dagut became a Deputy Registrar in April 2018.
He got commendations from the Nigeria Examinations Committee
for his transparent conduct of examinations during the period spanning 2000 to
2006.
Areghan had previously alluded to his impending retirement
and departure from the examination body in August during the announcement of
the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination results for school
candidates.
Born on October 2, 1967, in the Mbar District of Bokkos
Local Government Area, Plateau State, Dangut’s educational journey, as detailed
in the statement, includes his attendance at Government Secondary School,
Riyom, from 1981 to 1983, and Government Science School, Kuru, from 1983 to
1986, where he successfully obtained his WASC/SC in 1986. Both institutions are
located in Plateau State.
Subsequently, Dangut pursued higher education at the
University of Agriculture in Makurdi, Benue State, where he earned a Bachelor
of Agriculture degree in Animal Production in 1991.
