The joint venture between Xylem and the Tiba Manzalawi Group for the production of pumps and HVAC systems in Egypt has achieved a significant milestone.
The Xylem Egypt Plant, a collaborative effort between Xylem and the Tiba Manzalawi Group, has successfully concluded its inaugural year of operations. The state-of-the-art pump manufacturing facility, officially launched in 2023 under the auspices of Egypt's esteemed Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, is dedicated to the production and assembly of cutting-edge pumping systems catering to the Middle Eastern and African markets.
The Xylem Egypt Plant, situated in 10th of Ramadan City near Cairo, specializes in the production of Split-Case Centrifugal pumps for diverse applications including irrigation, HVAC, and commercial building services. Additionally, the facility manufactures end-suction pumps for industrial and irrigation purposes. It serves as a central hub for the production and assembly of renowned water brand products such as Lowara and Bell & Gossett.
While a significant portion of the factory's production caters to Egypt's thriving and expanding market, it is progressively expanding to cater to the broader African and Middle Eastern markets. Xylem has been an integral part of Egypt's industrial landscape for over five decades. In 2021, a substantial office was established in the country to serve the region, followed by the inauguration of the Xylem Egypt Plant two years later.
Xylem is the first international company to produce state-of-the-art water pumps and related water technology equipment in Egypt—serving customers in irrigation, central heating and air conditioning, commercial building services, wastewater management, and numerous other applications in the industrial, manufacturing, and commercial sectors. The factory's first phase covered 4,000 square metres with an annual production capacity of 2,000 to 4,000 water pumps, and plans to expand to 9,000 square metres.
Xylem has been a trusted partner for various significant projects in Egypt, including the Abu Rawash, Gerza, and Alexandria treatment plants, the South Valley (Toshka) Irrigation Project, and the provision of equipment and design services for the Ministerial District of the New Administrative Capital, as well as the water systems for the New Alamein City Downtown and Towers.
A joint venture with Tiba Manzalawi Group, the leading regional manufacturer and provider of HVAC systems, resulted in the establishment of the new plant. This collaboration has facilitated a dependable supply chain for Xylem brands, encompassing complete units and spare parts.
This state-of-the-art facility is the first of its kind in Egypt, specializing in the production of water pumps under the renowned international brand. With a strategic focus on both the domestic and export markets, Xylem Egypt Plant offers significant cost savings for the region by facilitating transactions in local currency and ensuring reduced delivery times. Furthermore, the establishment of this plant contributes to job creation and serves as a catalyst for Egypt's accelerated growth and advancement..
“One year and counting —the journey has been nothing short of incredible. In just one year, we've achieved so much together, and we're grateful to everyone who has been involved. As we celebrate this milestone, we're more committed than ever to Egypt through Xylem's high-impact culture, says Vincent Chirouze, Managing Director at Xylem Africa.
"When we established the Xylem Egypt Plant, we wanted to show that Egypt can manufacture world-class products for international brands. A year later, we've exceeded our expectations, building and delivering top pump and HVAC solutions for our customers across North Africa and the Middle East. The factory shows that Egypt is a self-sustaining economic and industrial hub, deepening local industry and building manufacturing independence that is true to the Egyptian State's vision,' says Shady El Manzalawi, Group CEO at Tiba Manzalawi Group.
