A release timed late in the tracking week did little to slow the momentum behind Runway, as Lady Gaga and Doechii turned a brief chart debut into a dominant, multi-chart surge across the United States.

The collaboration initially arrived on a Thursday with only a few hours left in its first tracking period—typically a disadvantage for any new single. Even so, “Runway” performed strongly enough in that limited window to debut at No. 10 on Billboard’s Dance Digital Song Sales chart. What followed in its first full week was a dramatic leap: the song climbed from No. 10 to No. 1, completing a rapid ascent to the summit.

In doing so, it dethroned Dracula, the previous chart leader by Tame Impala and Jennie, which slips to No. 2. Meanwhile, Pinky Up by Katseye debuts at No. 3, rounding out a reshuffled top tier.

The single’s performance was powered by a full seven-day cycle of sales and streams, bolstered by its connection to the upcoming film The Devil Wears Prada 2, for which the track was written and recorded. That visibility helped “Runway” expand far beyond a single chart, launching simultaneously across multiple Billboard rankings.

For Lady Gaga, the achievement adds a significant milestone to an already historic career. “Runway” becomes her tenth No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. Among those leaders, both Abracadabra and Telephone—her duet with Beyoncé—spent double-digit weeks at No. 1, highlighting the sustained popularity she has enjoyed on the tally.

Her full list of chart-toppers on the ranking now includes: “Abracadabra,” “Applause,” “Bad Romance,” “Judas,” “Rain On Me” (with Ariana Grande), “Runway,” “Stupid Love,” “Telephone,” “The Dead Dance,” and “Vanish Into You.”

Across her career, Gaga has placed 52 songs on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. More than half of those entries peaked outside the top 10, with over a dozen stalling below the top 15—the current cutoff for the ranking. Even so, “Runway” becomes her 24th top 10 hit, reinforcing her consistency at the upper levels of the chart.

The release also continues a particularly productive stretch for the pop icon. While “Runway” marks her first appearance on the chart in 2026, the previous year saw three of her songs reach No. 1: “Abracadabra,” “Vanish Into You”—a non-single from her album Mayhem—and “The Dead Dance.” Notably, those three tracks alone account for nearly a third of her total leaders on the chart.

For Doechii, “Runway” represents a breakthrough moment. The track is her third entry on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart and her first to reach No. 1. Prior to this, her best-performing effort had been ExtraL, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 in March of the previous year. Another release, Alter Ego featuring JT, reached No. 7.

Ironically, “Runway” initially stood as her lowest-charting entry when it debuted at No. 10. Within a week, however, it transformed into her biggest hit yet, underscoring the scale of its rapid rise.

Beyond its dominance on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, “Runway” is currently present on nine Billboard rankings. It debuts at No. 5 on the Digital Song Sales, Hot Dance/Pop Songs, and Dance Streaming Songs charts, signaling strong performance across both purchases and streaming platforms.

The track also opens on radio-focused charts, arriving at No. 30 on Pop Airplay and No. 34 on Adult Pop Airplay. On broader consumption-based rankings, it enters the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 50, while also appearing on the Billboard Global 200 at No. 70 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at No. 79.

From a late-week release to a chart-topping force, “Runway” has quickly become one of the most impactful singles of the moment—extending Lady Gaga’s legacy while delivering Doechii her first major breakthrough at No. 1.
