During an interactive session organized by the Senate Ad-hoc committee investigating alleged sabotage in the Nigerian petroleum industry, the Group Chief Strategy Officer of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company, Aliyu Suleiman, made a significant revelation. contrary to previous claims by the Dangote Refinery company, Suleiman stated that 60% of the crude supplied to the refinery was provided by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

This disclosure supersedes the earlier position presented by the Group Chief Commercial Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, Rabiu A. Umar, who had asserted that the NNPC had been supplying insufficient crude oil for their production requirements.

Umar highlighted that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) currently supplies only 33% of the crude oil required by the refinery. To meet its production capacity, the refinery has had to source the remaining 67% from alternative sources.

Despite having a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the refinery cannot solely rely on the supply from NNPC, which is often insufficient.

In contrast, Aliyu Suleiman, during his presentation, mentioned that out of the five million barrels of crude oil obtained recently, NNPC provided 60%, 20% was imported, and the remaining 20% was purchased.

Aliyu expressed appreciation for the robust partnership between the Dangote Refinery and the NNPC Ltd, resulting in the substantial supply to Dangote.

He characterized the refinery as a nascent entity requiring the unwavering support of all pertinent stakeholders to ensure its growth and sustainability.
