The Nigerian film industry has suffered the unfortunate loss of actress Sharon Okpamen, who passed away approximately one month after giving birth to her second child.

This distressing news was confirmed by Sharon’s colleague, Stanley Ontop, in a post on his Instagram account on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Ontop stated: “Nollywood Actor and Producer Sharon Okpamen has regrettably passed away.

“It’s a sad day for Nollywood & the Edo entertainment industry. Sharon, who was a filmmaker, actress, entrepreneur & humanitarian, has left a significant void in the industry.

“May her soul rest in perfect peace, Amen @sharonokpamen.”

On July 31, Sharon shared the joyous news of the birth of her second child on her Facebook page.

Regrettably, she experienced a medical emergency following the childbirth and subsequently passed away.

Sharon, a renowned philanthropist, gained popularity through her acting debut in the 2010 film “Touch Not My Crown,” a role secured with the assistance of the late veteran actor John ‘Mr Ibu’ Okafor.

Throughout her career, Sharon has amassed an impressive filmography, appearing in over a hundred films and establishing herself as a prominent figure in the industry. Additionally, she ventured into film production with her own movie titled “Night Hustlers.”
