France Football, the entity responsible for the Ballon d’Or, has informed Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior that he is set to receive this year's accolade, as reported by Marca.

The announcement of the award winner will take place at an event on October 28.

Vinicius Jr is anticipated to secure the honor due to his remarkable performances for both the LaLiga team and the Brazilian national squad over the past year.

The 24-year-old played a crucial role in helping Los Blancos achieve their 15th Champions League title, netting six goals, including the second goal in the final, and providing five assists.

The last Brazilian to claim the Ballon d’Or was Kaká in 2007, after which the award was dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with only Luka Modric in 2018 and Karim Benzema in 2022 breaking their streak.

Vinicius Jr is nominated for the award alongside four of his Real Madrid teammates: Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, and Jude Bellingham.
