Adesanya also mentioned that the event has garnered support from various corporate entities and organizations, aiming to enhance trade and commerce within the water transport sector and beyond, while promising an enjoyable experience that offers great value for attendees. Tickets will be available for purchase, and the carnival will welcome participants who present themselves and their products appropriately.
He further highlighted that the Lagos Lagoon Water Carnival is a unique celebration of love, creativity, and community, showcasing "elemental displays of the Lagos water divisions" through performances that embody the unity represented by Lagos and its diverse water bodies.
The festivities will take place both on water, utilizing barges and boats, and on land, with water transport options available at various locations. The carnival is anticipated to include musical performances and interactive activities aimed at engaging attendees of all ages. Its goal is not only to provide entertainment but also to cultivate connections among participants, celebrating the African spirit and offering a glimpse into the world through the vibrant lens of Lagos.
Olusola Obasa, the CEO of Media Perspective and the event organizer, highlighted two key features of the grand event designed to celebrate and leverage the richness and diversity of Lagos. One of these features is the Queen Lagos pageant, which showcases the feminine qualities and attributes that reflect the uniqueness of the city. Obasa emphasized that the Queen Lagos beauty pageant will be unique, stating, “it represents a paradigm shift in showcasing the beauty of Lagos, focusing on its intrinsic qualities rather than just physical appearance.” The winner of the pageant will serve as the ambassador for the ‘Save Our Waters Campaign.’
The second major highlight of the carnival is the Best Of All Time (BOAT) awards ceremony. According to the organizers, these awards will recognize individuals from various sectors who have significantly contributed to the Blue economy and the advancement of Lagos State. Distinguished achievers from both the public and private sectors will be celebrated across different BOAT award categories. Additionally, companies and industry leaders that have played a pivotal role in the development of Lagos will also receive accolades, as noted by Obasa. Other officials at the event expressed their enthusiasm for the carnival, which is set to be an annual celebration featuring unique themes each year.
