The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) has reaffirmed its dedication to environmental education and the involvement of youth in conservation initiatives. This commitment was highlighted during the recent Summer Camp held at the Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC), which was themed “Eco-Adventure Challenge.” The camp catered to children aged five to 17, uniting a diverse group of young nature enthusiasts for a three-week program filled with learning and adventure in a cherished natural setting.

The initiative aimed to cultivate a lasting appreciation for nature and promote active lifestyles, while also equipping children with the knowledge and skills necessary to become future guardians of the environment. With over 100 participants, the camp featured a variety of engaging activities, challenges, and educational sessions designed to instill a deep respect for the environment in young minds.

Campers had the opportunity to explore the rich ecosystems of the Lekki Conservation Centre through guided nature walks and wildlife observation, gaining insights into the area's biodiversity, which includes monkeys, rare bird species, and various other animals and plants. The children also enjoyed memorable interactions with a 106-year-old male tortoise and a 96-year-old female tortoise.

Dr. Joseph Onoja, the Director General of NCF, expressed his contentment with the camp's success, stating, "We take great pride in this year’s summer camp. Our goal was to provide these young participants with not only an unforgettable outdoor experience but also practical knowledge that will motivate them to actively engage in environmental protection."
