Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has received a nomination for the esteemed 2024 CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Thursday announcement from CAF on X highlighted that Nwabali is among a select group of ten nominees, showcasing the top talent in African goalkeeping.

In this competitive field, Nwabali is up against well-known figures in African football, such as Morocco’s Yassine Bounou, who currently plays in Saudi Arabia, Egypt’s Mostafa Shobeir, and Senegal’s Djigui Diarra.

Other prominent nominees include Cameroon’s Andre Onana, who is active in the English Premier League, as well as seasoned players like Morocco’s Munir El Kajoui, Algeria’s Oussama Benbot, Ivory Coast’s Yahia Fofana, DR Congo’s Lionel Mpasi, and Tunisia’s Amanallah Memmiche.

Each nominee has showcased remarkable skill and consistency over the past year, making this one of the most fiercely contested goalkeeper awards in recent CAF history.

Nwabali's nomination marks a significant achievement for Nigerian football, as he joins the ranks of a select few Nigerian goalkeepers to earn such recognition in recent times. The winner will be revealed at the forthcoming CAF Awards 2024 ceremony, which will honor Africa’s top football talents.
