Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has conveyed profound sadness over the passing of renowned Nigerian filmmaker Dimeji Ajibola, celebrated for his contributions to the acclaimed series Shanty Town. Ajibola passed away on Sunday after a struggle with an undisclosed illness. 

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Iyke expressed his sorrow, stating: “I CANT MAKE SENSE OF IT. TO MAKE SENSE OF IT IS TO ACCEPT IT. TO ACCEPT IT IS TO QUESTION GOD… THIS PROJECT IS YOUR LAST LEGACY BRO… IN YOUR WORDS ” This is the project every filmaker waits for”. THE WORLD WILL, YET AGAIN, WITNESS YOUR SINGULAR BRILLIANCE AND AMAZING PERSONALITY… REST IN GOD’S BOSSOM D. THE SHOW MUST GO ON IN YOUR NAME.”

Ajibola's influence on the Nigerian film industry extends well beyond Shanty Town. His career encompassed film, animation, visual effects, virtual environments, and interactive media, earning him recognition as an innovator and creative leader. 

Having studied at prestigious institutions such as the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios, Animation Mentor in San Francisco, and VFXLearning, Ajibola's diverse expertise enriched his distinctive storytelling style. As the CEO and Technical Director of Flipsyde Studios Ltd., he established a reputation for cinematic excellence. 

His 2012 film Hoodrush, recognized as Nigeria’s first urban musical, innovatively combined narrative and musical elements. The film garnered significant acclaim, winning multiple awards, including Best Movie at Germany’s Green Me Film Festival, along with honors for Best Actor, Best Soundtrack, and Best Supporting Actor at the Nollywood Movies and AMAA Awards.
