Recently, Nigerian-born heavyweight boxer Enobong “The Nigerian Gentleman” Umohette, who resides in the United States, attained the prestigious title of IBA (International Boxing Association) Continental Heavyweight Champion.

This remarkable accomplishment was achieved through his decisive victory over the reigning IBA Champion, Roberto “Bully” White, via Technical Knockout in the initial round of their scheduled 10-round match held at the Coliseo de Pescaito David Ruiz Center in Santa Marta, Colombia.

As reported by Heraldo de Santa Marta, Mr. Umohette demonstrated his superior skills and techniques against Mr. White. Despite Mr. White's valiant efforts, Mr. Umohette's exceptional speed, agility, strategic prowess, and relentless pressure ultimately proved insurmountable.

In a post-match interview, Mr. Umohette expressed his sincere gratitude to the divine for the privilege of competing at such an esteemed level and for the opportunity to serve as an inspiration to others through his remarkable resurgence in the sport of boxing.

He acknowledged that this title fight was made possible by a supportive community of individuals, transcending political affiliations, ideological beliefs, ethnic backgrounds, and geographical boundaries.

Umohette extended his thanks to former Governor Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria’s Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Governor Udom Emmanuel, and Ambassador Udo Moses Williams for their significant contributions to his success. He also expressed appreciation for the support from Governor Umo Eno.

Furthermore, Mr. Umohette acknowledged the private individuals involved in this undertaking, as well as his promoter, Mr. Erik Flemming, and technical advisor, Ms. Rhonda Yates. Umohette maintains an undefeated record in five fights since his return from an almost eight-year hiatus from the sport. He is now ranked among the top 200 heavyweights globally and is merely two fights away from a potential title opportunity with the WBA, WBC, or IBF. He expressed appreciation to his coaching and training team for their role in his continued success.
