Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, has achieved a remarkable milestone with his hit track ‘Calm Down Remix’ featuring Selena Gomez, becoming the first Afrobeats song to reach 1 billion views on YouTube.

As of Saturday, the music video, which was uploaded to Gomez’s YouTube channel two years ago, has officially surpassed this significant view count, marking it as the first Nigerian song to do so.

Additionally, ‘Calm Down Remix’ holds the record for the fastest African song to attain 1 billion views on YouTube, accomplishing this in just two years.

The original version of the track has also performed well, amassing over 619 million views on the platform.

In August of the previous year, the remix with Selena Gomez made history as the first African song to reach the billion streams milestone on Spotify, where it currently boasts over 1.5 billion streams.
