Given its current trajectory, the film is poised to exceed the billion naira mark in a shorter timeframe than her previous record-holder, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ which reached that milestone 21 days post-release.
In a recent promotional skit, Akindele expressed her ambitious goal of achieving N5 billion in total box office revenue for ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa.’
The film has set impressive records for its opening weekend in 2024, attracting 38,353 viewers, and it also boasts the highest-grossing single-day performance in the history of Nigerian cinema, with N87.8 million.
It appears that ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is on track to outpace her earlier successes, such as ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga,’ which earned N636 million, and ‘Battle on Buka Street,’ which grossed N668 million before the week concluded.
Despite the annual increase in cinema ticket prices, Akindele’s films continue to break box office records, and early figures suggest this trend will persist.
Distributed by Nile Entertainment, led by Moses Babatunde, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is being screened in 30 international cinemas, including openings in Australia, the United States, and sold-out shows in the UK, along with several African nations.
With average ticket prices set at $10.90 in the UK, $8 in the US and Canada, and $12.95 in Australia, Akindele aims to set new international box office records for a Nigerian film.
