KRC Genk's director, Peter Croonen, has firmly stated that Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare will not be departing the club during the January transfer window, despite speculation linking him to various English Premier League teams.

Arokodare has been enjoying a successful season with the Limburgers after initially struggling to find his footing at the Belgian club. Currently, the 24-year-old is the top performer for the team, leading in both goals and assists. He has netted 14 goals and provided six assists in 22 appearances across all competitions, making him the leading goalscorer in Belgium among Europe’s top leagues this season.

His impressive performances have attracted attention, with potential moves to Fulham and Turkish powerhouse Trabzonspor being reported. KRC Genk has historically relied on transfer income, often selling players during the winter window, with recent departures including Paul Onuachu, Daniel Munoz, and Joseph Paintsil.

Nevertheless, Croonen emphasized that the club's intention is to retain Arokodare, despite the interest from other clubs.

“The intention is absolutely to keep him. And that will happen,”  Croonen stated in an interview with DAZN.

Arokodare concluded 2024 on a high note, scoring twice in a 2-2 draw against Royal Antwerp at the Bosuilstadion on Boxing Day, finishing the year as the league's top scorer.
