“The e-commerce sector is rapidly expanding, and Lagos is at the forefront of this growth. Through enhanced postal and logistics services, we aim to support small businesses and individuals participating in e-commerce,” she stated.
Recognizing Lagos as a vital partner, Ms. Odeyemi highlighted that one of her key objectives as Postmaster-General is to cultivate strategic alliances that will enhance the effectiveness and relevance of NIPOST's services in an ever-changing environment.
“I see Lagos State as a critical partner in achieving this vision, given its status as the economic hub of Nigeria.”
Odeyemi emphasized that the courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu highlights the significance of collaboration in governance and service delivery. She stated that NIPOST is prepared to work alongside the Lagos State Government to foster innovation, stimulate economic growth, and improve public service delivery.
Additionally, she commended the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration for various initiatives conducted in December, which successfully drew numerous individuals from the diaspora to Lagos for the 'Detty December' festivities.
Sanwo-Olu Urges NIPOST Leader to Enhance Performance Quality.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Tola Odeyemi, the Postmaster-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), to disrupt existing norms in order to foster sustainable change that meets both current and future demands.
During a courtesy visit from Odeyemi at the Lagos House in Marina on Wednesday, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to facilitate business operations in Lagos State and across Nigeria.
He reiterated the state government's commitment to partnering with NIPOST to enhance its service centers, improve physical infrastructure, and support e-commerce as well as the distribution and sale of goods.
The governor specifically encouraged the NIPOST leadership to adopt innovative thinking, challenge conventional practices, and revitalize the organization, stating: “Do not hesitate to express your desire for change, as the systems established in the past were relevant to their time.”
“If you want an organisation that will meet today’s and future needs, change is a reality.”
NIPOST's Revenue Growth
In 2024, NIPOST recorded a remarkable 275% increase in revenue, attributed to the identification and rectification of inefficiencies, alongside enhancements in service quality. This transformation led to a substantial rise in customer engagement.
Furthermore, NIPOST initiated upgrades at its facilities in Abuja, Lagos, and Kaduna. These improvements, which include enhancements to its Postal Institute, are designed to bring the organization in line with international standards.
