A Lagos Magistrate Court has cleared Abdulazeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, of any connection to the death of singer Aloba Oladimeji Ilerioluwa, also referred to as Mohbad.

Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje delivered this ruling on February 25, following guidance from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) Lagos.

The magistrate stated that there was no case against Naira Marley.

Additionally, the court exonerated music promoter Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry), Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), and Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde.

However, the DPP has indicated intentions to pursue charges against Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the nurse who attended to Mohbad, and his friend, Ayobami Sadiq, for acts of recklessness and negligence.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry were initially detained and charged by the Lagos Police Command in relation to Mohbad’s death in 2024.

They were subsequently granted bail set at N20 million on November 17, 2024, after spending 40 days in police custody.

The late Mohbad was signed to Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley, from 2020 to 2022 as he began his music career.

He passed away on Tuesday, September 12, under controversial circumstances, at the age of 27.
