Fido, who shot to fame with his hit Awolowo, acknowledged that some skepticism popped up after his next song, Mr. Lover, didn’t take off as expected. He explained that the song’s lackluster performance was due to a change in how it was promoted.
“We had to put the marketing for Mr. Lover on hold and focus more on pushing Awolowo at the time,” he explained. “At some point, I felt I could always return to promoting Mr. Lover because it’s still my song. But then, I started hearing people say, ‘Fido na one-hit wonder,’ so we decided to drop a fresh track instead. Mr. Lover is a banger if you really listen to it.”
Fido plans to release a five-track EP in February.
“I have my body of work ready, and by God’s grace, I’ll be dropping it in February,” he said.
