Anthony Ricco, a prominent attorney representing the troubled American artist Sean Diddy, has resigned from his position ahead of the upcoming sex trafficking trial.

Diddy is currently facing more than 30 civil lawsuits and is set to appear in a federal criminal trial concerning sex trafficking and racketeering on May 5, 2025.

In a motion submitted to the New York Federal Court on Thursday, Ricco announced his decision to step down but did not provide specific reasons for his departure from the rapper's legal team.

The legal filing indicated that he informed the judge of his choice to withdraw, citing “sufficient reasons protected by lawyer/client privilege.”

In the motion for relief, which requires judicial approval, Ricco stated, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.”

Ricco is also recognized for his involvement in the bin Laden case.
