During a recent livestream, Peller’s co-streamer suggested featuring Runtown, but Peller dismissed the idea, insisting he only wanted to collaborate with established artists.
“What is Runtown? He hasn’t made it big. We don’t know him. Suggest someone else. Who is that? Runtown? Don’t bring upcoming artists to my livestream. I want only well-known, successful artists,” he exclaimed.
His comments triggered widespread backlash, with many condemning him for belittling one of Afrobeats’ most influential sound pioneers.
Peller has previously hosted prominent artists such as Olamide, Tiwa Savage, and Davido on his livestreams.
Runtown first rose to prominence with his 2014 hit Gallardo, featuring Davido, and gained international acclaim with his 2016 single Mad Over You.
