Unauthorized Use Sparks Outrage
In a passionate Instagram post, Ademoye expressed her frustration over the growing trend of piracy, particularly on YouTube. She revealed that at least two channels—Nollynew Series TV and Nolly Specials —had stolen her movie title and poster, uploading them to their platforms to profit from her hard work.
“Enough is enough!!! I hate that I have to do this, but my blood, sweat, tears, hard work, money, and sleepless nights will not be enjoyed by someone else!” she wrote.
A Wider Problem in Nollywood
Ademoye highlighted that this issue extends beyond her own projects. She shared an alarming discovery while searching for fellow filmmaker Biodun Stephen’s movie, only to find over 40 unauthorized uploads using Stephen’s thumbnail.
“It is very unfair that we work day and night, and then someone comes to reap where they didn’t sow,” she said. “This time, I will not take it.”
Taking Legal Action
Determined to fight back, Ademoye vowed to report the offending channels and collaborate with authorities to have them taken down. She also called on her fans to help by reporting the channels in question.
In a bold move, she directly called out Ayodeji Films, warning them of impending legal action. She also mentioned a Ghana-based TV station involved in the piracy, urging followers to help identify it so she could escalate the matter—even tagging the office of former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama if necessary.
A Stand Against Content Theft
Ademoye’s outcry reflects a larger struggle in Nollywood, where filmmakers and actors frequently battle piracy, which undermines their revenue and creative rights. Her strong stance has drawn support from fans and colleagues, with many praising her for speaking out.
As the situation develops, Ademoye’s actions could set a precedent for how Nollywood professionals combat digital piracy in an era where unauthorized content sharing remains a major challenge.
“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,” she declared, signaling that she’s ready to take the fight as far as necessary to protect her work.
