In a statement issued on Sunday by the board's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB detailed the participation statistics and the method for candidates to check their results. He stated that candidates can conveniently check their mock UTME scores by sending a simple Short Message Service (SMS) containing the word "MOCKRESULT" to either 55019 or 66019 using the same mobile phone number they used during the registration process for the examination.
The mock UTME, an initiative undertaken annually by JAMB, serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it allows the board to rigorously test and fine-tune any new technological or procedural innovations intended for the main UTME, ensuring a smoother and more efficient examination process. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly for the prospective candidates, it provides a valuable opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) environment. This hands-on experience helps to alleviate anxiety and build confidence before the actual high-stakes examination.
According to the data provided by JAMB, a significant number of candidates initially registered for the mock exercise, with 200,115 individuals expressing interest. However, this number slightly decreased to 200,113 following the withdrawal of two candidates. On the day of the examination, a considerable 73,844 registered candidates were absent, while unfortunately, 88 candidates encountered issues during the biometric verification screening and were unable to proceed with the test.
Consequently, a total of 126,181 candidates successfully sat for the 2025 Mock UTME. As of the announcement, the results for a substantial 115,735 of these candidates have been processed and are now available for viewing. JAMB assured the remaining candidates that the results for the outstanding 10,446 individuals are currently undergoing processing and will be released in due course.
The examination body also addressed reports of delays experienced by some candidates during the mock examination. JAMB expressed its sincere regret for any inconvenience caused, clarifying that these disruptions were primarily a consequence of the integration of new features designed to enhance the overall integrity and efficiency of the upcoming main UTME.
Despite these challenges, JAMB urged candidates to maintain their support and understanding, emphasizing that the mock examination remains a crucial component of its strategy to continuously improve the UTME process and better equip candidates for success.
The board reiterated the core objectives of the mock exercise, stating that it acts as a "trial version" of the UTME, enabling JAMB to thoroughly evaluate new implementations and simultaneously allowing candidates to become comfortable with the intricacies of the CBT platform.
JAMB concluded its statement by highlighting the historical success of the mock UTME initiative, noting that over the years, it has effectively identified and addressed potential shortcomings in the examination process and has provided candidates with invaluable experience that contributes significantly to their preparedness for the main UTME.
