Spotlight on Two Gospel Giants
Renowned for her powerful voice and captivating stage presence, Mercy Chinwo has won the hearts of gospel fans worldwide. Meanwhile, Nathaniel Bassey, celebrated for his musical brilliance and the globally acclaimed Hallelujah Challenge, continues to attract massive audiences both online and in live performances.
Born on August 27, 1981, in Akwa Ibom State, Bassey is not only a celebrated gospel singer but also a skilled trumpet player and songwriter. His hit songs—including Yahweh Sabaoth, Ebenezer, Tobechukwu, and Imela—have solidified his place as a leading voice in gospel music. His academic journey took him from the University of Lagos, where he earned a degree in International Relations and Politics, to Middlesex University in London, where he studied Politics and Music. Beyond music, he serves as a pastor at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, King’s Court, in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Chinwo, born on September 5, 1991, started singing in church at the age of six. After signing with EeZee Conceptz in 2017, she gained widespread recognition with her 2018 hit Excess Love. A graduate of Human Resources Management from the International Business Management Institute, Chinwo has won numerous accolades, including Gospel Artiste of the Year at the 2020 AFRIMMA Awards and Africa Gospel Music of the Year at the CLIMA Africa Awards 2022.
