Tolani Alli, a distinguished documentary photographer originally from Ibadan, Nigeria, has embarked on a new chapter in her burgeoning career, joining the World Bank headquarters in Washington, United States. In her new capacity, she will serve as a Creative Campaign Coordinator and Director for the globally renowned development finance institution.

This move marks another significant step in Alli's impressive trajectory. It comes after her tenure at the African Development Bank, where, as reported by OYOINSIGHT.COM in November 2023, she held the role of Executive Digital Storyteller, meticulously documenting the work of the Bank's President, Akinwunmi Adesina.

Alli has garnered widespread recognition for her exceptional ability to capture compelling and evocative images. Her journey in photography began during her time working with the Oyo State government as the Personal Documentary Photographer for the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, a role she held from December 2014 to May 2019. Subsequently, between August 2019 and November 2023, she served as the Special Adviser on Photography and Head of Content Production in the office of the former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, further honing her skills and expanding her influence.

Beyond her professional roles, the 33-year-old Alli has demonstrated a commitment to nurturing the next generation of visual storytellers, having directly and indirectly mentored hundreds of aspiring documentary photographers. Her expertise and insights have also been sought after on the global stage. This year alone, she has been invited as a guest speaker at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University and the University of Virginia, among others.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Alli once shared the serendipitous beginnings of her photography journey in an interview with Biopreneur.com. She recounted how a chance encounter with an Aston Kutcher Canon commercial, viewed while she was bravely battling a serious illness, sparked an initial interest in cameras.

As her passion for photography deepened, Alli made a pivotal decision to shift her focus from pursuing medical school to embracing the art of visual storytelling through her lens. Her journey exemplifies a powerful transformation driven by passion and talent, culminating in her current significant role at the World Bank.
