“We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance,” the FA said. “As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
Mudryk, 23, became one of Chelsea’s most high-profile signings when he joined the Premier League club in January 2023 for a reported $108 million. His on-field contributions have been limited, and speculation has grown around his prolonged absence since December, when news of a doping probe first surfaced.
At the time, Mudryk issued a firm denial, stating on social media:
“I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon.”
While he has remained away from competitive action, Mudryk was seen in public last month, posing with fans in Poland during Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League final victory over Real Betis.
The charge now sets in motion formal disciplinary proceedings. If found guilty, Mudryk could face a lengthy suspension from football, in line with international anti-doping standards.
