A Journey of Growth and Reflection
Iké’s debut album will be released via her own Wurl Ike Records and Protoje’s In.DiggNation Collective, under exclusive license to Ineffable Records.
Describing the 11-track project as intensely personal, Iké told Billboard:
“What started in 2021 as just music turned into a journey of growth, healing, and real self-love. I thought I was writing songs, but they ended up being conversations with self.”
She added:
“I went through joy, heartbreak, burnout, [and] clarity and came out softer, stronger, and more myself than ever. Treasure Self Love isn’t just the name of my album—it’s the lessons.”
Launching with “Romantic,” Featuring Masicka
To kick off the album’s campaign, Iké has released “Romantic,” a smoky, modern twist on Jamaican dancehall icon Patra’s 1994 classic “Romantic Call.”
Patra herself makes appearances at the start and end of the new track, paying homage to her original hit, which famously featured Yo-Yo and reached No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 three decades ago.
Iké’s version features new-generation dancehall star Masicka, with production by Dunw3ll and Juls. The single arrives alongside a Shane Creative-directed visual that channels ‘90s aesthetics, bridging classic and contemporary Jamaican sounds.
Star-Studded Tracklist
Treasure Self Love is shaping up as a showcase for Iké’s versatility and collaborative spirit. In addition to Masicka, the album features appearances from Grammy-winning R&B star H.E.R., rap heavyweight Joey Bada$$, Irish artist Maverick Sabre, and reggae luminary Protoje.
Iké’s recent collaborations—such as “He Loves Us Both” with H.E.R. and “Fry Plantain” with Joey Bada$$—have highlighted her knack for genre-spanning partnerships while staying rooted in reggae and dancehall traditions.
Upcoming Live Performances and Award Nominations
Iké’s summer is set to be busy. She will make her debut at Jamaica’s biggest annual music festival, Reggae Sumfest, on July 19—an eagerly anticipated first appearance on the festival’s storied stage.
Later this summer, on August 28, she will compete for her third consecutive win as female reggae artist of the year at the Caribbean Music Awards. She’s also nominated in three other categories this year, including reggae song of the year (“Fry Plantain”) and reggae collaboration of the year for both “Fry Plantain” and “Brusies,” her track with Mortimer and Kabaka Pyramid.
A Defining Moment for a Rising Star
For Iké, Treasure Self Love is more than just a debut album—it’s a culmination of years of artistry, introspection, and cultural pride.
“There was a time I never thought I would be able to share it,” she told Billboard. “It’s all surreal to me right now. [I] cannot wait for everyone to hear it.”
With its mix of personal storytelling, classic reggae sensibilities, and genre-blurring collaborations, Treasure Self Love is poised to be one of the year’s most anticipated reggae releases, underscoring Iké’s status as one of Jamaica’s brightest contemporary voices.
