The convocation, which commenced with a press briefing held on July 22, 2025, at the university’s Enugu campus, reflects the institution’s sustained commitment to academic distinction and research advancement.
Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oguejiofor Ujam, while addressing journalists at the briefing, praised the graduating students and the university community for their dedication and perseverance. “These figures reflect the dedication and hard work of our students as well as the commitment of our faculty and staff,” he said.
A detailed breakdown of the graduation statistics shows:
- First Class Honours: 167
- Second Class Honours (Upper Division): 3,485
- Second Class Honours (Lower Division): 5,217
- Third Class Honours: 739
- Pass: 33
- Unclassified: 180
Beyond the undergraduate cohort, UNN will also confer advanced degrees and diplomas on 1,892 postgraduate students. These include 616 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, 1,101 Master of Science (MSc) degrees, and 133 Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, underscoring the university's growing influence in postgraduate education and research training.
Professor Ujam used the occasion to spotlight key institutional advancements under his leadership, particularly the establishment of the Directorate of Grants and Scholarships. He explained that the directorate was created to strengthen UNN’s ability to attract and manage external research funding and student financial support.
“The establishment of this directorate is a clear demonstration of our commitment to nurturing talent and fostering groundbreaking research,” Ujam stated. “It ensures that our university remains at the forefront of knowledge creation and dissemination, both nationally and globally.”
