When talent is raw and rare, it often kicks doors open and pushes boundaries. In Nigeria’s crowded social media comedy scene—dominated by creators from the South—emerging voices from other regions face an uphill battle. Yet, Abdulrazak Zango Isiyaka, better known as Aabdulbk, is breaking through with remarkable impact.
In just three years, the Kano-born comedian has carved a niche for himself, captivating millions of fans across the globe with his silent, universally relatable skits. Despite being a high school graduate with no formal training in performance or film, Aabdulbk has become a recognizable name in the digital comedy space.
Viral Reach Across Borders
Comedy, he believes, has no language. This philosophy shapes his content: silent skits that rely on expressions, gestures, and relatable scenarios. By eliminating spoken language, he ensures inclusivity, reaching audiences regardless of culture, nationality, or even hearing ability.
The results speak volumes. On TikTok alone, Aabdulbk boasts 4.6 million followers and 41.6 million likes, with three of his videos pulling in a staggering 160 million views combined. His Instagram following has climbed to over 378,000 and counting—a testament to his growing influence.
Inspired by Khaby Lame, Carving His Own Path
Aabdulbk admits his inspiration came from global TikTok sensation Khaby Lame, who also rose to fame through silent, witty performances. “I decided not to talk in my videos because the people who watch my videos are from different languages and backgrounds all over the world. Using a voice or language would restrict my viewers,” he explained.
Starting in 2022, he quickly realized his natural gift: “Making people laugh is my hobby. I become happy whenever I make people laugh. I was able to carve out a niche in Nigeria’s saturated comedy space by using the natural talent given to me by God.”
Championing the North in Digital Comedy
While northern Nigeria has produced great talents in cinematography and the arts, few comedians from the region have gained nationwide or global attention. Aabdulbk’s rise has not only made him a household name but also a source of inspiration for budding creators in the North. He confidently describes himself as “the most popular comedian in the North”, an accolade that reflects his pioneering role.
Fame First, Wealth Next
Although fame has come swiftly, Aabdulbk admits that the financial rewards of social media comedy are still a work in progress. “Comedy on social media has made me famous, but I am still working on the wealth part,” he noted. Beyond entertainment, however, his philanthropic activities—charity work that resonates with fans—have earned him admiration beyond his comedy.
As he continues to grow his brand, Aabdulbk’s story underscores the power of authenticity, consistency, and cultural inclusivity in an increasingly global digital world. His rise is not just about comedy; it is a northern breakthrough in Nigeria’s social media entertainment scene.
