Actress urges caution in spiritual matters, says some struggles may reflect divine judgment—not demonic attack

Not Every Delay Is Demonic, Says Nollywood Star

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Mary Remmy Njoku, has issued a reflective warning on the nature of intercessory prayer, urging people to be spiritually discerning before intervening in others' battles.

In a recent Instagram post, Njoku challenged a common practice among religious believers—praying or fasting for others without seeking divine clarity. According to her, not all struggles or delays in life are caused by demonic interference; in some cases, they may be the result of divine judgment or hidden consequences.

"You May Be Fighting Against God's Will"

Njoku explained that believers could unknowingly place themselves in opposition to God’s will by praying for individuals who are facing consequences for actions unknown to them.

“Be careful who you pray for,” she wrote. “Sometimes you’re trying to bless someone that God is trying to punish. You’re fasting, interceding, and nothing is shifting.”

She cautioned that spiritual silence in the face of such prayers may not be a failure of faith but rather a sign that divine justice is at work.

“Before you lose sleep, pause. There might be a reason heaven is silent. A hidden sin. A consequence. Something you don’t know and may never know,” she added.

A Call for Spiritual Wisdom and Caution

Njoku’s message serves as both a spiritual and emotional appeal for maturity in faith-based actions. She encouraged believers to seek wisdom and not assume that every hardship is meant to be reversed through intercession.

“Not every struggle is a battle you’re meant to fight,” she said. “Not every delay is demonic. Sometimes, it’s divine judgment.”

The actress ended her message with a solemn prayer: “My prayer today is that we don’t end up standing in the way of God’s justice. Because it’s a dangerous thing to be caught in divine crossfire. Especially over sins we know nothing about. Be wise. Be discerning. Be careful.”

A Sobering Message for a Spiritually Active Generation

Mary Remmy Njoku’s cautionary post resonates with many Nigerians who are deeply invested in prayer and spiritual warfare. Her words add a sobering dimension to conversations around intercession, suggesting that spiritual maturity also involves restraint, reflection, and discernment.

As a respected voice in both Nollywood and public discourse, her message invites believers to re-examine their approach to spiritual advocacy—not just with zeal, but with sensitivity to divine timing and purpose.
