Mr. Irukera had earlier been appointed as a Non-Executive Director at the 195th Board meeting on May 2, 2025, a nomination that was subsequently approved by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM). His new role as Chairman will be presented to shareholders for ratification at the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting.
In a statement signed by Saratu Umar Garba, Company Secretary, the Board and Management congratulated Mr. Irukera and expressed full confidence in his ability to further strengthen Veritas Kapital’s governance structures and strategic direction.

A Recognized Authority in Regulation and Reform
Mr. Irukera is one of Nigeria’s most respected legal and regulatory professionals, with over 30 years of experience in institutional reform, market regulation, and public interest litigation.
He is the immediate past Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), where he led a historic transformation of Nigeria’s consumer protection landscape. Under his stewardship, the FCCPC introduced the country’s first comprehensive competition law regime, positioning the Commission as a model for regulatory innovation and market fairness.
Global Experience, Local Impact
Irukera’s diverse career includes advising federal and state governments, international organizations, and regulatory agencies on legal reform, aviation litigation, and multi-jurisdictional competition enforcement. He has helped shape key national legislation across consumer protection, digital trade, aviation, and competition law.
He is also consulting for regional bodies such as ECOWAS, COMESA, and AfCFTA, particularly on digital trade and cross-border regulatory enforcement—demonstrating his relevance beyond Nigeria’s borders.
Prior to his public service, Mr. Irukera was Managing Partner at Simmons Cooper Partners, where he focused on commercial law, corporate governance, and stakeholder relations.

Mr. Irukera holds a law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, is called to the Nigerian Bar, and is licensed to practice in the United States. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), American Bar Association (ABA), and International Bar Association (IBA).
