It was a day of joy and thanksgiving for Nollywood actress and producer, Bose Akinola, who celebrated not just another year of life but also the arrival of her first grandchild.

The Yoruba actress described the baby’s birth as the “sweetest birthday gift,” noting that the family had spent months waiting, praying and hoping for the little one’s safe arrival.

“God gave me the sweetest birthday gift. Two hearts, one birthday. My heart just got a whole lot bigger. Blessed to welcome my beautiful grandbaby into the world. After months of waiting, praying, and dreaming, our little miracle is finally here. Words can’t describe the love we feel holding this tiny blessing in our arms. Welcome to the world, our sweetest gift,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

Akinola also shared emotional recollections of her daughter’s labor and expressed gratitude for the safe delivery.

Almost immediately, her comment section was flooded with congratulatory messages from fans and industry colleagues. Many hailed her as the “Grandma of the Year,” praising her excitement and openness in sharing the milestone.

Bose Akinola, renowned for her roles in Yoruba films such as Idunnu Okan and Loogun Ofe, has built a solid reputation as both an actress and producer over the years.

Her joyous announcement follows a trend among Nollywood stars openly celebrating their journeys into grandparenthood. Just last month, her colleague Iyabo Ojo welcomed her first grandchild, Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, while actress Omoni Oboli has also publicly spoken about her gratitude at becoming a grandmother.

For Akinola, however, the coincidence of birthday and grandchild’s birth makes the moment doubly special—a personal milestone she says she will never forget.
