The family of veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has released a formal statement to address and correct false reports circulating online regarding the death of her son, Ayomikun Omobolanle. The statement, signed by family spokesperson Yemi Amodu, confirms that he passed away after a brief illness in Ibadan, Oyo State, and was not a result of a bathroom accident in the UK as widely speculated.

Ayomikun, the only child of Peju and Sunday Omobolanle, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, plunging the Nigerian movie industry into mourning. Following the tragic news, several social media posts claimed that his death was caused by a fall.

The official statement from the family firmly refutes these claims. "We wish to clearly state that Sola did not pass away as a result of any bathroom accident, contrary to false reports being circulated online," the statement read. It clarified that Ayomikun was briefly unwell, received "first-class medical care," and "peacefully answered the call of his creator" at a hospital in Ibadan, where he has since been laid to rest.

The family urged the public to disregard the "unfounded claims being spread by some bloggers," stating that such stories "not only dishonour his memory but also bring unnecessary pain to his loved ones."

The statement concluded with a note of gratitude for the public's support and a prayer that no other family would have to endure such a loss. Actress Biola Adebayo was among the first to announce the passing, sharing her grief on social media and offering her condolences to Ogunmola and her family.
