Nigerian singer Omah Lay has opened up about his excitement over receiving his first Grammy nomination, while emphasizing that his main wish is for his friend Davido to win.

The announcement came following the 2026 Grammy Nominations on Friday, November 7. Omah Lay, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, is nominated for Best African Music Performance for his collaboration with Davido on the hit track With You.

In an Instagram post, Omah Lay shared his enthusiasm but admitted that awards themselves are not a major priority for him.

“I don’t care about winning the Grammy myself, but I really hope my friend Davido wins,” he wrote, describing the superstar as “the realest friend” who has supported him through challenging times.

Davido, despite being nominated multiple times since the category was introduced in 2023, has yet to secure a win. The 2026 nod marks Omah Lay’s first Grammy recognition, adding to the anticipation surrounding the duo’s collaboration.

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 1, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air globally on CBS and be streamed on Paramount+, showcasing top talent across diverse musical genres.

Omah Lay’s nomination not only highlights his rising influence in the African music scene but also underscores the growing global recognition of Nigerian artists in international award circuits.
