A new daily live talk programme aimed at deepening public conversation and audience participation is set to enter Nigeria’s broadcast landscape early next year, following the unveiling of The Morayo Show, a project led by veteran broadcaster Morayo Afolabi-Brown.

Scheduled to premiere on 5 January 2026, the weekday programme will air simultaneously on News Central TV, TVC Entertainment and NTA Lagos, with additional streaming on digital platforms such as YouTube. The show is positioned as a live audience talk format, bringing everyday Nigerians into discussions on social, cultural, emotional and national issues.

The programme marks a significant new chapter for Afolabi-Brown, coming months after her departure from TVC Communications, where she spent over a decade as the face of the popular breakfast show Your View. At the official unveiling of The Morayo Show and its newly constructed studio on the Lagos Mainland, she described the initiative as a conscious shift from traditional, one-directional broadcasting to a more inclusive and participatory media model.

According to her, the new show is designed to prioritise listening as much as speaking, at a time when public discourse is often dominated by a narrow range of voices. She said the idea was born out of a belief that while Nigerians have strong opinions and talent, there are limited credible and safe platforms where those voices can be expressed and engaged respectfully.

Afolabi-Brown, an award-winning journalist with more than two decades of experience in broadcast media, gained national recognition through Your View, which became known for its all-female panel and its influence on conversations around governance, gender, culture and social development. Reflecting on her decision to leave TVC, she described it as one of the boldest choices of her career, driven by a growing sense that her vision for audience engagement had expanded beyond the boundaries of her former role.

She explained that The Morayo Show will focus on dialogue rather than debate, centring lived experiences and real-time audience participation. Daily conversations will span a wide range of themes, including relationships and family life, faith and identity, leadership, business, creativity and broader national concerns.

The programme will be produced from a purpose-built live audience studio located on the Lagos Mainland, which organisers describe as the first facility of its scale in that part of the city. Beyond serving as the home of The Morayo Show, the studio is expected to operate as a multi-purpose creative hub, hosting podcasts, interviews, film premieres, watch parties and professional recordings. Afolabi-Brown noted that the choice of location reflects a belief that innovation and excellence in media production should not be confined to select areas of Lagos.

Broadcast partners have welcomed the collaboration. Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of News Central Television, Kayode Akintemi, said the partnership aligns with the organisation’s goal of building credible, future-ready platforms for national dialogue. He added that the show complements the broadcaster’s commitment to quality journalism, strong partnerships and sustainable growth.

Similarly, the Director of Programmes at TVC Entertainment and New Media, Olukunle Folarin, described the initiative as a natural progression in Afolabi-Brown’s career, noting her long-standing influence on Nigerian television and public conversation.

The formal commissioning of the Lagos Mainland studio is scheduled for 18 December and is expected to mark both the opening of the physical space and the launch of a broader mission centred on inclusive engagement. Afolabi-Brown acknowledged that starting afresh after years of professional establishment comes with challenges, but said the move was guided by a clear sense of purpose and leadership.

She added that The Morayo Show is ultimately driven by a belief that many Nigerians are seeking platforms where they can be seen, heard and engaged without being talked down to. Promotional materials for the programme are expected to run across partner stations in the lead-up to its January 2026 debut.
