Nile University of Nigeria recently held its 4th Medical Attestation Ceremony, a milestone event marking the formal induction of its newest MBBS graduates into the medical profession. The ceremony brought together government officials, senior medical practitioners, faculty members, proud parents, and students to celebrate the transition of the 4th cohort of medical graduates from training to practice.

In his welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dilli Dogo, FNAMed, DFMC, congratulated the graduates and acknowledged the sacrifices of their families. He highlighted the significance of the University’s MBBS programme being recently licensed by the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC), allowing graduates to practice abroad without additional qualifications—a testament to the programme’s global standard and rigour.

During the Attestation Lecture, Prof. Bisallah Ahmed Ekele delivered a talk titled “Who We Were, Who We Are, and Who We Should Be”, honoring past and present medical pioneers in Nigeria. Drawing from the Hippocratic Oath and the Physician’s Pledge, he urged the graduates to uphold ethical standards, professionalism, and empathy, emphasizing that public trust in medicine is rooted in these values.

The ceremony formally administered the Oath of Medical Practice, officially inducting the graduates as certified medical doctors. Each graduate also received essential medical tools from Nile University to support their early professional journey.
