At the centre of the initiative is a strengthened collaboration involving automobile brand Simba TVS, the Consumer Credit Corporation of Nigeria (CREDICORP), and Gamma Mobility. Under the partnership, a fleet of TVS King Deluxe Plus tricycles—popularly known as keke—was formally handed over to women who had completed professional rider training. Beneficiaries also received certificates of proficiency, signalling their readiness to operate as licensed commercial riders.
The programme is structured to widen access to consumer credit while accelerating women’s entry into Nigeria’s largely male-dominated transport industry. Through a blend of technical training, asset ownership, and business support, the initiative aims to create sustainable income opportunities for women and strengthen household livelihoods.
Officials of Simba TVS described the Queen Riders Programme as a deliberate intervention to unlock women’s economic potential by equipping them with marketable skills and reliable mobility assets. According to the company, the initiative goes beyond vehicle provision, focusing on confidence-building, technical competence, and entrepreneurship support that enables participants to build viable transport businesses.
They noted that the tricycles serve as income-generating assets capable of delivering steady earnings, while also symbolising independence and dignity for women who have traditionally been excluded from the sector. The company reaffirmed its long-term commitment to expanding the programme and breaking structural barriers that limit women’s participation in transport and other male-dominated industries.
Speaking at the event, CREDICORP Managing Director, Engr. Uzoma Nwagba, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to practical, scalable mobility solutions. He highlighted CREDICORP’s longstanding relationship with Simba TVS, built on confidence in the company’s manufacturing standards and local assembly capacity. According to him, visits by CREDICORP leadership to the Simba TVS assembly plant in Lagos further strengthened trust in the brand’s contribution to Nigeria’s industrial and mobility development.
Engr. Nwagba explained that the programme intentionally combines consumer credit, asset provision, professional training, and structured operational support to ensure long-term success for beneficiaries. He added that Gamma Mobility plays a critical execution role, providing on-ground support and ensuring that participants are positioned to operate sustainably.Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation to the partner organisations, describing the programme as life-changing. One participant said the training and mentorship gave her the confidence to pursue a livelihood she previously considered unattainable, adding that the riding and basic maintenance skills acquired would allow her to contribute meaningfully to her family’s income.
The Queen Riders Programme remains a flagship women-focused empowerment initiative, providing training, certification, and access to tricycles for women from under-represented backgrounds. Stakeholders say the initiative aligns with broader national objectives of inclusive growth, job creation, and economic resilience—demonstrating how targeted mobility solutions can translate into tangible social and economic impact.
