Don Singles International (DSI), a leading Nigerian showbiz and personality promotion firm, has announced plans to launch DSI Movies, a new platform aimed at empowering talented youths to pursue careers in the Nigerian film industry.
The announcement was made over the weekend in Abuja by Mr Dominic Nwuzor, CEO of DSI, popularly known as Don Singles. He explained that Nigeria is blessed with a vast pool of creative young talents, many of whom struggle to access opportunities due to systemic barriers, limited infrastructure, and economic constraints.
Speaking with newsmen, Nwuzor emphasized the need for a shift from mere employment to empowerment, advocating for investment in infrastructure, skills acquisition, and mentorship platforms.
He noted that the Nigerian film industry has the potential to engage countless unemployed youths and contribute significantly to the country’s GDP if properly harnessed.
“Our emerging talents and creatives must be gainfully engaged and given the right spotlight to be discovered,” Nwuzor said, adding that DSI Movies will provide such a platform in line with the company’s broader objectives.
A Grassroots Initiative with National Reach
Nwuzor, who hails from Nibo town in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, said DSI Movies will be launched in his community and will enlist emerging talents from Awka North and Awka South, across the state, and beyond.
The initiative, he explained, will involve collaboration between emerging talents and seasoned stars in the industry, offering opportunities in acting, directing, cinematography, and other film-related roles.
“DSI Movies will bring emerging talents together to work with seasoned stars for productions and mentorship,” he stated.
Commitment to Youth Empowerment and Community Development
Describing the initiative as part of his long-standing commitment to youth empowerment, Nwuzor said it was driven by his desire to give back to the community that shaped him.
He further added that the project will feature notable stars, including artistes signed to the DSI label such as ace Nollywood actor Smith Nnebe and others.
With nearly three decades of experience in Nigeria’s creative space, DSI is known for discovering and promoting talents, including the late Nollywood comic legend John Okafor, popularly known as ‘Mr Ibu’, one of the firm’s foremost artistes.
A New Pathway for Young Creatives
As the Nigerian film industry continues to grow globally, initiatives like DSI Movies could provide much-needed pathways for young creatives to develop skills, gain exposure, and contribute to the nation’s cultural and economic growth.
