Known as the Data Recapture Self-Service Platform (PENCAP), the system allows RSA holders to update their personal records remotely, eliminating the need to visit PFA offices physically. The initiative targets contributors who joined the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) on or before July 1, 2019, and have yet to complete the data recapture process.
PenCom described the rollout as a key step toward enhancing data integrity, improving service delivery, and modernising pension administration through digitalisation. Accurate and up-to-date data, the commission said, is fundamental to efficient CPS administration, particularly in addressing inconsistencies from legacy records and incomplete documentation that have historically slowed verification and benefit processing.
“The platform provides a secure and convenient channel to recapture data, improving the quality and reliability of contributor records across PFAs,” PenCom stated. “It will support faster benefit processing, smoother verification exercises, and an overall improvement in service experience for RSA holders.”
The recapture process, previously conducted only at PFA branches, is now fully online. Contributors will need a computer, smartphone, or other internet-enabled devices with a camera to capture live images. RSA holders can access the portal at https://pensionrecap.pencom.gov.ng/ to create secure user profiles using personal email addresses. They can then complete the online data recapture form, upload supporting documents, and undergo biometric verification through live facial capture and digital signatures.
Once submitted, applications will be reviewed by the contributor’s PFA, with updates and notifications sent via email to ensure transparency and accountability.
PenCom noted that completing the data recapture process is critical for participation in the Retiree Enrolment and Verification Exercise and accessing key pension transactions. These include processing retirement benefits, utilising RSA balances for residential mortgage equity contributions, temporary withdrawal due to job loss, and transferring RSAs between PFAs. Contributors who fail to recapture their data will be barred from these services.
The commission emphasised that while the online platform offers convenience, RSA holders who prefer physical recapture can still visit their PFA branches, as the platform is intended to complement existing service channels.
PenCom said the deployment of PENCAP underscores its commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and public confidence in Nigeria’s pension industry, ensuring seamless access to retirement benefits through technology-driven solutions.
