The statement came in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by CutnPaid on Thursday, January 1, during DDG’s visit to Lagos. His remarks challenge the common perception that Nigeria is particularly dangerous.
“I think America is the most dangerous country there is, to be honest. I don’t think Nigeria is as dangerous as America, nowhere near,” the rapper said.
DDG elaborated on his view by comparing crime levels in both countries. He cited the high incidence of gang-related killings in the U.S., contrasting it with his experiences in Nigeria.
“You get robbed out here for sure, but people aren’t getting shot like that — the way it happens in America,” he said, emphasizing the distinction.
Encouraging others to visit Nigeria, DDG dismissed negative stereotypes, telling potential travelers, “So if anybody is thinking about coming out here, just pull, bro.”
His comments have prompted a mix of reactions online, with some agreeing with his perspective while others question the comparison. The discussion highlights ongoing debates about safety, media portrayal, and perceptions of crime in different countries.
