Taiwo Sanusi, Founder and Creative Director of Taiwo Sanusi Media (TSM), has been recognised with the Award of Excellence in Photography and Visual Arts by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Lagos Metropolitan. The accolade was presented during the investiture of the body’s 54th President, Kikelomo Owoyale.

In a statement, Owoyale explained that Sanusi earned the honour because his work consistently commands attention and reflects a purposeful approach. “Over the years, his photography has evolved into visual documentation that marries artistic quality with social consciousness,” she said, noting the broader societal impact of his creative output.

JCI’s awards seek to celebrate individuals whose professional excellence aligns with service and social impact. In recognising Sanusi, the organisation emphasised the pivotal role of creative professionals in shaping development narratives and fostering community engagement.

Through TSM, which operates in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom, Sanusi delivers professional photography and visual arts across a variety of creative and socially focused projects. His approach prioritises visual storytelling, capturing moments that inspire dialogue and action, while also contributing to community development initiatives.

Much of Sanusi’s work extends beyond commercial assignments. He has partnered with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community-based programmes, providing visual content that supports social development, advocacy, and empowerment. His imagery has been used to document projects, highlight pressing social issues, and strengthen campaigns aimed at improving lives—earning recognition not only in Nigeria but internationally.

Tobi Kuti, the immediate past president of JCI Lagos Metropolitan, described the award as a celebration of “craft, commitment, and contribution,” acknowledging Sanusi’s dedication to both his art and society.

In addition to his professional work, Sanusi has played a significant role in mentoring the next generation of visual artists. Over 150 emerging creatives have benefited from his training in photography and visual arts, helping build professional skills and capacity within Nigeria’s growing creative sector. For many of his mentees, his guidance has been a bridge between raw talent and sustainable practice in the industry.

Sanusi’s multidisciplinary background also informs his visual work. During his tertiary education, he excelled in music production, earning the National Economics Students Association’s Best Music Producer of the Year award. That foundation in sound, rhythm, and composition continues to influence the depth and structure of his photography today.

The investiture ceremony attracted leaders from government, business, civil society, culture, and the creative industries, alongside members of the art and photography community, highlighting the growing intersection of creativity, professional excellence, and social impact in Nigeria.
