The appointment follows TIS’s recent soft launch in Canada and is aimed at strengthening the company’s footprint while supporting broader global growth initiatives. In his new executive leadership role, Foster will focus on building strategic partnerships and advancing adoption of TIS solutions across the Canadian travel ecosystem.
TIS provides attorney-built contracts, secure credit-card vaulting and real-time fraud detection tools designed to help travel advisors, host agencies, suppliers and insurance partners operate more professionally while reducing risk, saving time and cutting costs.
According to TIS Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Sheila Folk, Foster’s deep understanding of the travel business makes him a strong fit for the role. She noted that his long-standing belief in the company’s mission and his extensive industry relationships will be instrumental as TIS scales its operations in Canada.
Foster brings more than 45 years of experience in the travel industry. Based in London, Ontario, he began his career in 1981 and later founded and grew a UNIGLOBE agency into one of Canada’s largest, before it became part of Nexion Travel Group. He served as President of Nexion Travel Group–Canada until 2024.
Although retired from day-to-day executive management, Foster remains active in the industry as an independent travel advisor, consultant, writer and investor. He is widely recognised for his advisor-focused insights on business strategy, client service, and the practical application of technology and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and profitability.
In addition to his commercial experience, Foster continues to play an active role in industry governance. He currently sits on the board of the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) and has previously held leadership positions with the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) at both provincial and national levels.
Foster said TIS addresses growing challenges faced by travel professionals, including increased operational complexity and liability exposure. He described the platform’s tools as essential to raising professional standards, strengthening business protection and delivering meaningful cost savings, adding that he looks forward to supporting TIS’s growth in Canada and internationally.
In his new role, Foster will work closely with host agencies, consortia, suppliers and other stakeholders to expand partnerships, support advisor education and promote consistent operational standards as TIS grows across multiple markets.
