Concerns over the unauthorized use of celebrity images for commercial purposes have once again come to the fore, as Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa issues a firm warning to vendors and business owners.
In a strongly worded statement shared via her Instagram page, the actress cautioned individuals and brands against using her name, photographs, or video content to promote products and services without her explicit consent. She emphasized that purchasing a product or paying for a service does not entitle any vendor to expect publicity, endorsements, or social media tags from her.
Amusa clarified that any assumption that her patronage automatically translates into brand promotion is misplaced. According to her, her image and likeness remain her intellectual property and must not be deployed for marketing, advertising, or sales campaigns without prior authorization.
The actress also addressed misconceptions surrounding her philanthropic activities. She stated that she does not operate or represent any charity organization aside from her officially recognized initiative, the Dayo Amusa Foundation, distancing herself from any unauthorized claims suggesting otherwise.
Issuing a stern warning, Amusa stressed that there would be consequences for individuals or businesses that disregard her directive. She reiterated that no one has the right to use her pictures or videos for promotional purposes without her approval.
Her statement underscores the growing concerns among public figures over brand misuse and unauthorized endorsements, particularly in the age of digital marketing and social media influence.
