A Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media has publicly criticized the outfits worn by Nigerian attendees at the 68th Grammy Awards, claiming they failed to reflect Nigerian cultural values and identity.

In a post shared on social media, Ossai Ovie expressed dissatisfaction with the way Nigerian culture was represented at the international event. He argued that Nigerian artists missed an opportunity to showcase their heritage through fashion.

Ovie singled out Chioma Adeleke, describing her attire as inappropriate and inconsistent with Nigerian cultural norms. He argued that the outfit, which he said was “half-naked,” did not align with the cultural expectations of Nigerians.

He also criticized her husband, popular music star Davido, for not discouraging her choice of dress.

“I am disappointed in Chioma Davido’s dressing. She shouldn’t have been half-naked to Grammy. She didn’t represent Nigerian culture well, embracing a half-naked revealing Western style instead,” he said.

“Cultural representation matters, and it’s crucial. I am disappointed in Davido for allowing her to dress this way. I am really disappointed,” Ovie added.

His comments have since sparked reactions online, with many questioning whether cultural representation should dictate personal fashion choices at global events.
