A digital solution aims to simplify payments, cash flow, and daily financial operations for small and medium enterprises.
Ecobank Nigeria has introduced the Ecobank Business App, a mobile banking platform designed to support the growth and sustainability of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across the country. The app is positioned as a response to long-standing operational challenges faced by SMEs, including payment delays, manual transaction tracking, and inefficient cash-flow management.
Available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, the new platform enables business owners to manage payments, monitor transactions, oversee cash flow, and run day-to-day financial operations directly from their smartphones. The bank says the app is intended to reduce reliance on physical banking processes, eliminate queues, and help businesses operate more efficiently.
At the launch event in Lagos, Kola Adeleke, Executive Director of Consumer and Commercial Banking, explained that the Ecobank Business App was built to address the specific needs of Nigeria’s diverse SME sector. He highlighted that the platform is designed to serve a wide range of businesses, including traders, retailers, tech start-ups, online enterprises, hospitality operators, farmers, agro-processors, manufacturers, construction firms, and professionals such as lawyers and consultants.
Adeleke also noted that the app caters to social commerce entrepreneurs, schools, associations, and other organizations that require transparent and streamlined financial management. According to him, the platform offers tailored benefits depending on business type:
- Merchants and retailers can collect payments more quickly and efficiently.
- Online businesses can enjoy seamless digital transactions and improved payment processes.
- Hospitality operators can manage vendors and staff payments more effectively.
- Agriculture value chains can benefit from timely payment solutions.
- Manufacturers and construction firms can securely process bulk and high-value transactions.
- Professionals and service providers can issue invoices and receive payments with ease.
- Schools and associations can manage fees, dues, and reporting from one centralized platform.
The launch reinforces Ecobank’s broader commitment to supporting SMEs through digital innovation. The bank has emphasized that the app is part of a larger strategy to deepen financial inclusion, encourage digital adoption, and strengthen value-chain financing through partnerships with corporate anchors.
In addition to the new app, Ecobank continues to offer sector-specific financial solutions such as structured loans, trade support, guarantees, and equipment financing—aimed at empowering SMEs and promoting sustainable growth.
Overall, the Ecobank Business App is positioned as a significant step toward modernizing SME banking in Nigeria, providing businesses with a more efficient and transparent way to manage their finances in an increasingly digital economy.
