Speaking in a recent interview on the talk show WithChude, the television host explained that his public image as a family-friendly brand is deeply rooted in his relationship with God.
“How I choose to portray myself in the public space as a family-friendly brand, all of that comes from my relationship with God,” he said during the interview.
Osakioduwa emphasised that financial gain has never taken precedence over his convictions.
“When you come closer to how we do business, you will find that we are never going to take money over principle,” he stated.
According to him, this stance has cost him significant income over the years, particularly because alcohol and tobacco brands are among the highest-paying advertisers in the entertainment industry.
“They are companies that we don’t work for. For instance, we won’t work for a tobacco brand. You won’t see us hosting alcohol brands or tobacco brands. Those choices are deliberate. I mean, we have lost a lot of money to it. That is where the money is. They make the most money, and I am not judging anybody who does,” he explained.
The broadcaster clarified that his decision is a personal conviction rather than a moral condemnation of others who choose differently. Referencing a biblical account in which Jesus turned water into wine, he noted that working with such brands is not inherently sinful but said he believes he was divinely guided early in his career to take a different path.
“In fact, the first big job that was going to pay me multiple millions was an alcohol deal,” he revealed.
Osakioduwa added that he has learned to view wealth as transient and to avoid making decisions solely for financial reward.
“I have learned to see money come and go and not do things just for money. That’s why I think my life has been on a straight path all this time,” he said.
His remarks have since sparked conversations about faith, branding and the balance between commercial success and personal values within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
