Nollywood actress Oluwakemisola Apesin, popularly known as Kemity, has publicly dismissed rumours suggesting she advanced her career through inappropriate means, insisting that her rise in the film industry is the result of perseverance, discipline, and hard work.
In a post shared on Instagram, the actress addressed what she described as “social media noise,” firmly rejecting allegations that she exchanged sexual favours for movie roles.
“There is something I need to clear respectfully. Nobody should let anyone deceive them because of social media noise. I have never used my body to collect a movie role. I have never slept with anyone to get featured in any film. I have never exchanged sex for opportunity,” she wrote.
Reflecting on her early days in Nollywood, Kemity shared throwback photos and recounted how she balanced business and employment while pursuing her passion for acting. According to her, she owned two wine shops and also worked as a hotel receptionist to support herself financially.
She explained that the financial demands of acting — including covering feeding and accommodation costs during film productions — led her to temporarily transition into makeup artistry so she could remain active within the industry while sustaining herself.
“From acting, to makeup, and back to acting, my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me,” she said.
The actress emphasised that she has always earned her income legitimately and takes pride in raising her two daughters with strong values. “I cannot build their future on something dirty. Everything I am today is my sweat. Everything I have achieved is hard work and God’s grace,” she added.
Kemity also spoke about her upbringing, describing herself as coming from a respectable home and noting that she had even supported film productions in the past by contributing goods from her businesses.
“My name is clean… No one — and I mean no one — can ever come out boldly to say I used my body to collect anything from him,” she stated.
The actress concluded by advising aspiring performers not to be swayed by shortcuts or false promises in the entertainment industry, stressing that talent, consistency, discipline, and dedication remain the true pathways to sustainable success in Nollywood.
