The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has announced its commitment to probe credible reports regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse and misconduct in daycare centres nationwide.
The renewed scrutiny follows the resurfacing of tweets from Nigerian singer Simi dating back to 2012, which some social media users have misinterpreted as inappropriate. While the singer’s posts have triggered public debate, NAPTIP clarified that investigations will proceed only on verified reports concerning actual cases in daycare facilities.
In a public notice shared via its X page, the agency urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. It emphasized that credible reports would prompt a full investigation into the allegations.
“Public Notice: We take all reports of child sexual abuse/misconduct seriously and are committed to investigating every credible claim,” the notice read.
NAPTIP reiterated its ongoing dedication to protecting children and ensuring that daycare centres across Nigeria remain safe and accountable environments.
