Preparations for the 2026 edition of Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) continue to gather momentum as the National Planning Committee announces its fourth pre-conference webinar, scheduled for Thursday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. WAT. The virtual session forms part of a strategic series designed to equip public relations practitioners with relevant knowledge and practical insights ahead of the main conference in Croc City.

Organised under the auspices of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the webinar will focus on the theme, “Digital Agriculture and Emerging Technologies: The Role of PR in Public Enlightenment.” The topic reflects the growing intersection between communication practice, agricultural innovation, and technology-driven transformation in Nigeria.

As digital tools reshape farming methods and food systems, the session will examine how public relations professionals can bridge the knowledge gap between innovators and the wider public. Participants are expected to gain practical guidance on translating complex agricultural and technological concepts into accessible, engaging messages that inform, educate, and inspire action.

The President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, will serve as Chief Host, providing leadership direction for the engagement. The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, will participate as Host Governor, underscoring the importance of subnational collaboration in advancing innovation and strategic communication.

Oversight of the session will be provided by Chief Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Chairman of the NPRW 2026 Planning Committee, who will steer proceedings and ensure alignment with the broader objectives of the forthcoming conference. Moderating the discussion is Achiane Runyi Adams, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Information & Orientation, and Head of Corporate Communications at the Cross River Internal Revenue Service.

The webinar will feature expert contributions from Prof. Demo Kalla, Director of the TETFund Research & Development Centre of Excellence on Food Security at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and Mrs. Maryam Abdullahi, who will address issues surrounding capacity building, partnerships, and land project training. Together, the speakers are expected to provide actionable strategies on how PR can support innovation uptake, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable development within key sectors.

Registration for the webinar is open via Zoom, with participants receiving confirmation emails containing access details upon sign-up. Representing the Training and Faculty Sub-committee, Segun McMedal encouraged practitioners to take advantage of the opportunity to learn from subject-matter experts, connect with peers, and sharpen their professional competencies ahead of the main NPRW 2026 gathering.

The pre-conference webinar series reflects NPRW 2026’s broader commitment to strengthening the capacity of communication professionals in Nigeria. By aligning emerging trends such as digital agriculture and new technologies with real-world public relations practice, the initiative aims to ensure that practitioners are better prepared to shape informed public discourse—both at the main conference and in their day-to-day professional engagements.
