A long-simmering and highly publicised fallout between controversial singer Habeeb “Portable” Okikiola and Queen Dammy, the estranged wife of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, has once again returned to the public spotlight, reigniting debate across social media and entertainment circles.

Their relationship, which ended about 14 months ago, was marked by controversy from the outset. Queen Dammy, now 29 and a mother of one, first drew national attention in November 2020 after she fled the Alaafin’s palace, only to return nearly a year later to tender a public apology to the monarch via her Instagram page. She later became the third Olori to leave the palace, following the exit of another wife, Aanu.

Portable confirmed his romantic involvement with Queen Dammy in August 2023, but the affair ended abruptly after a heated disagreement during a live TikTok session. At the time, the singer accused her of infidelity, an allegation she firmly denied. Queen Dammy later confirmed the breakup, describing Portable as a “mad musician.”

In January 2025, months after their split, a leaked audio recording allegedly featuring both parties surfaced online. In the recording, Portable and Queen Dammy were heard discussing the possibility of reconciliation, briefly reigniting public interest in their fractured relationship before attention faded again.

That lull ended on Sunday when Portable launched a fresh verbal attack during a TikTok live session, triggered by comments Queen Dammy made while appearing on a live broadcast hosted by popular content creator Afeez “Salo” Ojesanmi. During the session, she reportedly stated that Portable no longer existed in her life.

The remark appeared to anger the singer, who accused Queen Dammy of publicly denying him despite what he claimed was a recent private interaction between them. In a viral TikTok video, Portable appealed to people of Ibadan to forgive him for earlier comments made during their breakup, insisting that he had continued to support Queen Dammy financially.

In the same outburst, the singer alleged that Queen Dammy, alongside actress Ashabi Simple, had been conspiring against him and attempting to damage his reputation. He claimed both women had contacted his wife over the issue but said he intervened to halt the situation. Portable further accused Queen Dammy of benefiting from him while denying their relationship in public.

Queen Dammy responded swiftly through her legal representatives, Jichrian Legal, who issued a cease-and-desist letter signed by Ugochukwu Jonathan. The letter, which she shared on her Instagram page on Monday, described Portable’s statements as false, defamatory, and misleading, warning him to refrain from further publications capable of harming her image.

According to the letter, the singer’s claims—particularly his assertion that they were “still sleeping together”—were characterised as a reckless and malicious attempt to tarnish Queen Dammy’s brand and reputation. Her legal team demanded an immediate retraction of the statements and a public apology across all platforms where the claims were circulated.

The letter also warned that failure to comply within 24 hours would result in legal action, including claims for monetary damages over what was described as the “wicked publication and dissemination of defamatory statements.”

Portable, however, doubled down on his position. In a series of videos posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday, the singer claimed that he regularly sent money to Queen Dammy. He also shared an audio recording of a phone conversation between them, during which they discussed her alleged denial of him during Salo’s live session.

In the recording, Queen Dammy accused Portable of failing to fulfil financial promises, while the singer questioned her claims, citing her public declaration that he was no longer part of her life. In another video, Portable said he was seeking justice, accusing Queen Dammy of double-dating him and threatening to have her arrested over what he described as an attempt to defraud him.

As the exchanges continue to unfold online, the renewed clash has once again placed both figures at the centre of public scrutiny, with legal action now looming over what was once a highly publicised and turbulent relationship.
