Tailored for Nigeria’s affluent clientele, the Visa Signature card delivers access to world-class privileges, opening up a global network of travel perks, lifestyle experiences, and exclusive offers from premium merchants through Visa’s extensive international ecosystem.

First Bank of Nigeria Limited, in collaboration with global payments giant Visa, has introduced the Visa Signature card in Nigeria—positioning it as an exclusive product tailored for the country’s affluent, high-spending segment.

The new card is designed to go beyond standard banking tools, combining payments functionality with lifestyle and travel privileges. It targets top executives, entrepreneurs, and frequent international travellers who require seamless financial access both locally and across borders.

According to the partners, the Visa Signature offering unlocks curated benefits spanning luxury travel, hospitality, and premium merchant deals through Visa’s global acceptance and partner network.

Global access, travel perks, and lifestyle privileges

Cardholders are expected to benefit from Visa’s international ecosystem, including “Visa Global benefits and Visa Destination offers,” which provide preferential pricing, priority services, and exclusive experiences across selected airlines, hotels, destinations, and retail partners worldwide.

The card also supports both domestic and cross-border transactions, enabling users to make payments seamlessly whether they are in Lagos, London, Dubai, or other global destinations.

“Live without boundaries” — FirstBank on premium experience push

Explaining the bank’s strategic intent behind the product, Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive, eBusiness & Retail Products at FirstBank, emphasized that the launch reflects evolving customer expectations.

He said:

“At FirstBank, we are dedicated to creating financial solutions that reflect the evolving lifestyles of our customers. We understand that our premium customers aspire to experiences that reflect their global outlook. Visa Signature is crafted to meet those expectations, offering access to exclusive experiences, global connectivity, and lifestyle privileges that empower our customers to live without boundaries. We remain focused on creating value and reinforcing our position as the partner of first choice for Nigerians at home and abroad."

Visa highlights Nigeria’s affluent consumer base

From Visa’s perspective, the collaboration reflects the growing sophistication and global mobility of Nigerian consumers, particularly within the upper-income segment.

Andrew Uaboi, Vice President and Cluster Head, West Africa at Visa, noted:

"Nigeria's affluent consumers are among the most active and globally connected spenders on the continent. Visa Signature is designed to serve that profile with the depth of benefits and the breadth of acceptance they deserve. We are delighted to work with FirstBank in making this available to the Nigerian market."

Expanding FirstBank’s premium card ecosystem

The launch also signals an expansion of FirstBank’s premium banking suite. The institution already offers a range of Visa-backed products including Visa Infinite, Visa Gold, Naira Credit, and Visa Prepaid cards—serving millions of customers across retail payments, e-commerce, and international transactions.

Visa Signature now sits as a dedicated tier aimed specifically at affluent clients, adding more exclusivity and tailored benefits to the bank’s existing card structure.
