Air India confirmed that flight AI-139, scheduled for February 28, was returning to India due to the closure of Israeli airspace. "The decision was made in the interest of the safety of passengers and crew. Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this unforeseen situation and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety," the airline said.
A spokesperson added that the airline would continue to monitor the evolving security environment and adjust its operations as needed to safeguard travelers.
Meanwhile, IndiGo, another major Indian carrier, said it was closely following developments in the region, including airspace restrictions over Iran. "Our teams stand prepared to implement any necessary adjustments as the situation evolves," the airline said in a post on X, urging passengers to verify flight status before departure.
Flight tracking platform Flightradar24 also reported that closures of airspace in the region are affecting multiple flights and airlines, highlighting the broader disruption to international travel caused by the escalating tensions.
